With more than 28 years in the construction industry, Mr. Soucar’s specialty areas are public works construction and more specifically educational facilities work. He has a strong background performing in the capacity of project manager for general contractors and as a consultant for 10 years as a Senior Project Manager / Owner’s representative for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Mr. Soucar is a Civil Engineer and a certified construction manager by CMAA.
Most of the educational facilities projects that Mr. Soucar managed were modernization projects on existing school campuses. Working for general contractors, he managed modernization projects for several school districts in Southern California. As a senior project manager / consultant to the Los Angeles Unified Schools District, Mr. Soucar managed several modernization projects on existing campuses from the start of design to construction closeout.
With his extensive experience and background, Mr. Soucar was assigned as the lead person for modernization projects at LAUSD. He prepared and taught several training classes to other construction managers on issues related to modernization projects covering topics of phasing in coordination with the existing campus operations, common problems in modernization projects, constructability reviews, common site conditions, scheduling to name a few.
Throughout his construction career, Mr. Soucar has assumed positions from superintendent to senior project manager. His background includes civil engineering and structural design, new construction and other private sector work such as restaurants, retail, tenant improvement and residential work.
